This spring, AIA Hong Kong continued to foster dialogue on sustainability, emerging technologies, and professional exchange through a diverse program of events and initiatives.
A highlight was Eco-Blueprints: Innovative Sustainable Initiatives for a Greener Future, where members, students, and industry professionals explored how energy performance is being addressed at a district scale through site visits to Kai Tak Sports Park, the Kai Tak District Cooling Plant, and AIRSIDE. The program concluded with a panel discussion examining the collaboration required between architects, engineers, developers, and industry partners to achieve meaningful reductions in operational energy use and advance Hong Kong's carbon neutrality goals. Sustainability also remained at the forefront during the Earth Day Webinar โ Architects as Change Agents, jointly hosted by AIA Hong Kong, AIA Taipei, and AIA International. Beyond sustainability, the Chapter strengthened professional connections through its Shenzhen Bay Cultural Plaza Walking Tour, where more than 60 members explored innovative approaches to materiality, placemaking, and master planning alongside project architects. Community building also continued through the popular Grumpy Hour, hosted with Snรธhetta at the Roca Shanghai Gallery, providing an informal setting for architects and designers to exchange ideas and experiences.
The Chapter also celebrated the selection of Kit Sze Yau as a recipient of the 2026 AIA x ACC Hsin Chong Foundation Young Architects Fellowship. During a three-month research fellowship in Kobe, Japan, she will investigate urban regeneration and community-led revitalization, reinforcing AIA Hong Kong's commitment to supporting emerging professionals and fostering international collaboration.
