Som Bose AIA is an, NCARB registered architect and a member of USGBC. Som leads Science and Technology practice at Architecture 49 for Western Canada, a WSP group company.
Som brings 16 years of work experience in numerous role settings within the construction industry. He has worked on architectural positions for various building types and has led Design Build projects with contracting companies. Som has gained specialization in Science and Technology field through his work for US pharmaceuticals and institutional companies as well as US Federal Agencies during his tenure at Flad Architects, Madison WI. He has experience working on Animal laboratories with BSL -2, BSL-3, BSL-3 Ag containment levels in the US. He has also worked on Cleanroom and Shielding laboratories for physical science research and semiconductor manufacturing. Prior to his role in Architecture 49 Canada, Som held a senior leadership position at the Design Build business division for Asia’s oldest contracting company SP Engineering and Construction in Mumbai-India. During his tenure at SPEC India, Som lead business development and managed Design Build projects worth $400+ million in value. Som was the overall program lead for design and design management of the world largest digital Museum based on Mahatma Gandhi , 100,000 sqft immersive digital museum in Gandhinagar, Gujarat completed in a record timeline of 9 months. His grasp of business understanding coupled with aptitude in financial aspects of design & construction are valued by his clients.
Som holds an Executive MBA from Mumbai’s top B-School - SP Jain University. He completed his Master in Architecture from School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UW-Milwaukee. He also is a member of (Architectural Institute of British Columbia) AIBC. Som maintains professional licensure in US,Canada and India. He is a board member of Sustainable Laboratories Canada and the founding president of AIA Canada Society. He has held positions as a member of the convention committee for the Wisconsin Chapter of the AIA. He remains an active member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and is the currently the founding president of the AIA’s Canada Society
In his spare time, he loves fishing, swimming or biking in picturesque British Columbia.
