Description

Dr. Masoud Akbarzadeh (Professor, University of Pennsylvania) leads the Polyhedral Structures Laboratory (PSL), a research unit within the Weitzman School of Design concentrating on advancing structural geometry and technologies. Prof. Akbarzadeh will elaborate on his interdisciplinary research at PSL that connects architecture, structural engineering, computer science, mathematics and material science. His initiatives seek to enrich architectural geometry to reconcile function, form, and technology in order to bridge the gap between architecture and structural design using geometry - considered the common language between these two inextricable disciplines. Some of PSL's global partners include SOM, Summum, Sika, Quarra Stone, and 3M.
