Event Description

NBBJ designed a 2 million m2 district in Shenzhen, China for Tencent, the biggest technology company in China. They re-imagine Net City as an urban space by putting humans and the environment first. It will be built entirely from the ground up to reflect the distributed network of the internet itself. It is inter-connected, integrated, organic and welcoming. Net City is designed to be a place where people can dream, come together as a community to connect and create new possibilities for the future. Abandoning simplistic and efficient zoning, they opt for integration that brings ‘work, live, play’ together. In this lecture, they will discuss their strategy in planning, transportation, landscape, architecture, technology work with big data to come up with an unique city design.
