[CES] Workflow: Automated Architecture

Workflow: Automated Architecture

Description

In this three-part conversation, AEC professionals discuss several examples of how automated workflows, data-driven design, and robotic fabrication are implemented in real-life projects, research, and future development. They also highlight how simple and flexible solutions for programming, simulating, and controlling robotic systems can help construction, craft, and creative industries to automate their production. The course culminates with the presentation of a roadmap from the artist’s sketchbook to installation and runs through the salient steps that informed the design and fabrication of the Londoner façade.

This discussion was originally presented and recorded by AIA United Kingdom.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the different automated process available for fabricating those designs

  • Learn the different methods for how these automated design and fabrication process can work together
