Description:

AIA COD is part of the AIA Knowledge Communities for those who are interested in following the design progress in the profession. AIA COD is also taking part in honoring AIA design awards as well as putting together design conferences both domestic and international. The conferences put together by AIA COD are one of a kind where attendance will get rare accesses to buildings, construction sites, cities, as well as insights from those who involved in the design and/or planning. AIA COD hopes to get more participations from young architects as well as overseas architects. The presentation will provide information on how AIA COD is structured, ways to get involved, and samples of the domestic conference.

Speaker bio

Ko Wibowo received his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia in 1994.  He then continued his architectural education at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas to pursue his Master of Architecture.

Going through very different approaches of education in East and West equipped him with capabilities in both technical and design aspects of architecture, traditional eastern and classical western architecture understanding, eastern and western urban planning as well as the cultural impact on architecture.  Being able to bring the best of the two worlds has become his strength and provided wisdom in architectural design. Understanding all sides of issues and balancing the delicate and differing design strategies become his approach to great architecture throughout his career. His works had been published in Dwell Magazine and Seattle Magazine among others as well as honored by AIA Seattle Award of Honor.

In addition to practicing architecture, Ko Wibowo also teaches urban design courses at the University of Washington, Tacoma.
