Speaker Bios

Jas Bhalla is the founding director of Jas Bhalla Architects, an interdisciplinary design practice operating in the fields of architecture, town planning and urban design. Their work is underpinned by rigorous analysis, and seeks to deliver innovative, cost effective and environmentally responsive design solutions.

Jas was recently recognized as one of the Architects Journal’s “40 under 40” for his acumen in housing design and identified as one of House and Garden Magazine’s “Rising Stars”.

Prior to establishing the practice in 2018, Jas held positions at several renowned architecture and design firms, including Kohn Pederson Fox, Adjaye Associates, and Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners. Jas studied at the Bartlett School of Planning at UCL before completing his architectural education at Yale University as the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. He is a regular writer and speaker and has authored articles published in the Independent and New Statesman. 

He is an active participant in member of review panels in Essex, Redbridge and Hounslow, and regularly acts as a visiting critic at the Bartlett, Cardiff University and Architectural Association, involved in education and policy in parallel to practice.

Eleanor is a Senior Architectural Designer at Jeremy Blake Architects in London, specialising in heritage hospitality projects. Her primary interest lies in the tension between old and new, working on projects with a sustainable, environmentally focused agenda.

Ellie is currently serving as the EDI Chair on the board of the AIA UK and is involved in groups promoting Women in Architecture, and the construction industry at large. She has a transatlantic education, having studied Architecture at Cambridge University, followed by a masters at the Yale School of Architecture as the inaugural recipient of the Bass Scholarship. She spent a year at Rice University in Texas as the C.D Broad Scholar and worked as a teaching fellow whilst studying at Yale. She is a registered Architect in the state of New York and has practiced in New York, London and Winchester on a range of project scales and sectors.
