2025 AIA South Korea Design Awards - Call for Entries
SUBMIT By Friday 19 September
AIA South Korea, one of five regional sections established under AIA International to connect local members more closely with the global community of the American Institute of Architects, is pleased to announce the inaugural AIA South Korea Design Awards program.
The program aims to celebrate design excellence by recognizing outstanding architects whose built works exemplify architectural innovation and contextual sensitivity, while promoting their distinguished contributions to contemporary architectural discourse.
Awards will be presented across three categories based on scale: Small, Medium, and Large. The jury will also consider a Special Recognition award, which is not open to submissions, to honor an international architect whose work has significantly impacted the advancement of architectural practice in Korea.

AWARD CATEGORIES
All entries must be submitted according to the following 3 categories based on total floor area:
SMALL: less than 500 m2 of total floor area
MEDIUM: from 500 m2 to 3,000 m2 of total floor area
LARGE: greater than 3,000 m2 of total floor area
The project must be built work completed on or after January 1, 2022.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
US-Licensed AIA members and Korean-licensed architects who are in good standing are eligible to submit entries based on the following project location requirements:
KEY DATES
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 19, 2025 (23:59 KST)
JURY DELIBERATION: October 2025
RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT: November 2025
AWARDS CEREMONY: December 2025 (in Seoul)

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For each project, the following submission materials must be uploaded to a web-based file transfer platform (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, WeTransfer, etc.) as a ZIP file.

The submission ZIP file (20MB max) should include:
Entry Form (Doc & PDF version)
Project Description Form
Images
Portfolio PDF
Copyright Release Form
Client & Photographer Permission Form
Submission Checklist Form
Proof of Entry Fee Payment.
The ZIP file must be named with the architect’s name, project title, submission category, and year. (e.g., LAST_FIRST_PROJECTTITLE_CATEGORY_2025.zip)
Individuals are permitted to submit multiple entries without any category restriction.
The AIA member or Korean-licensed architect submitting the project must be in good standing and the membership must be active at the time of submission.
The AIA member or Korean-licensed architect submitting the project must be the primary author of the design submitted. All substantial project participants must be acknowledged.
All submission materials related to the award must be submitted in English.

ENTRY FEES
The Entry Fees per project must be remitted by the submission deadline as follows:
AIA South Korea Architect Member: $150 USD
Other AIA Architect Member: $200 USD
Korean-Licensed Architect: $300 USD.
