Nicholas Gilliland, currently the President of AIA Continental Europe, is a partner with the Paris-based Tolila+Gilliland Atelier d’Architecture, which develops architecture and urban planning projects in France and beyond. This practice is characterized by a broad range of programs: urban planning, housing, public buildings, offices, and retail projects. It works to develop responses that are adapted to the specific context and unique to each site by highlighting its history and its geography. Tolila+Gilliland was awarded the French prize l’Equerre d’Argent in 2025 for the category of Collective Housing and 2024 for Mixed-Use construction. 

In addition, Nicholas is an adjunct senior studio critic at Rice Architecture Paris.
