Event Description

Light..water..air…the seeds of life, of design and architecture, the tools to create virtuous environments and behaviour. This event looks at implementing change through positive design, respecting nature and the future of the planet as a human vision. The best practices of a loyal and healthy desig,n merging nature into people and people into nature, implementing sustainability and resilience in the built environment. POLI.design will present their vision of sustainability as a virtuous plumbing system to save water consumption for the environment’s preservation. Barbara Carron, a woman in construction, will speak about the challenges of building a hospital in a seismic area in central Italy. Sergio A. Danese will present his design of an entrance pavilion engineered in wood, integrating a garden roof enriched by local essences and a bird friendly environment.

Matteo Oreste Ingaramo, CEO, POLIDesign, Politecnico di Milano

Matteo Oreste Ingaramo graduated in 1997 in Architecture with a project of Industrial Design published as an excellent thesis by the Politecnico di Torino.

Specializing Master Degree in Strategic Design at Politecnico di Milano.

PhD in Industrial Design at Politecnico di Milano.

Since 2005 he develops his research and teaching activities at the Department of Design at Politecnico di Milano. He is Professor in Design.

Director of Master degree course in “Design for Product Engineering and Innovation”.

Director of Master degree course in “Premium design management”.

Director of Master degree course in “Design for Architecture” at Politecnico di Milano.

He was a lecturer at the Politecnico di Torino from 2003.

Founder of the course, he is Dean and professor for the Laurea Magistrale in Design&Engineering at School of Design of Politecnico di Milano.

Co-ordinator of several research projects concerning design-driven innovation, for IDEA (InnovationDEsign Action) research group at Design Department. Since 2013 he is a member of Products, Services and Strategies research group.

Ingrid Paoletti, Associate Professor of Architectural Technology, Politecnico di Milano

Ingrid Paoletti is an experienced professor and researcher on New Technologies and Building Innovation in AEC, with experimental works and theoretical studies.

She is the founder of Material Balance Research Lab, co-founder and director of Actlab Research Unit and scientific coordinator of SAPERLAB, RESEARCH LAB of DIGITAL FABRICATION @DABC, Politecnico di Milano University.

Her research topics deal with innovative materials and building technologies, mass customization in the construction industry, advanced envelope components, and systems, digital fabrication, off-site manufacturing, history of industrialization, dry assembly and light-weight techniques for flexible constructions. She holds strong and long-lasting relations with partners and stakeholders for cutting edge customized industrial research, public and private, some of which are patented.

Barbara Carron, Executive Director, Carron S.P.A.

Barbara Carron - I was born in Asolo the 23rd of June 1972, I live in Treviso. I hold a Foreign literature and languages degree from IULM. After graduation I started working in the family company, Carron S.P.A, holding different positions until I became involved with the five star hotel projects.

I love travelling, playing different sports, reading, eating and drinking well. Music is the background of my lonely travels and my strong workouts. I hate unpolite people and always like gentle people.

My favorite quote belongs to the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher: “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.”

Sergio Alberto Danese, AIA, Principal, 21architettura

Sergio Alberto Danese is a 360° person.  An architect enjoying life’s adventures. His work and family, combined with an active outdoor lifestyle, interacting with his international clients.  He is honored to have a long-standing partnership with VF Corp, an international apparel and footwear company that shares his concerns for the natural world and human dignity.  Together they have envisioned and built the new reception pavilion and renovated three other industrial buildings on the VF International Headquarter Campus in Stabio, Switzerland.  The project was guided by climate science and VF’s inclusion & diversity strategy. 

Sergio is the owner and principal of 21architettura. His international portfolio is diverse, including residential, hospitality and commercial projects.  As an abstract artist, he focuses on the meaning of the gesture and the music of color, often on a transparent background.  Sergio has been teaching the DXA design studio at the Politecnico di Milano since 2013.
