Speaker Bios

Yu-Ngok Lo, FAIA, CDT, LEED AP is the founding principal of YNL Architects, Inc. and a cofounder of the Immigrant Architects Coalition. His work received numerous design awards and was published at various media such as ArchDaily, Hinge Magazine, CONDE, CommArch Magazine, and Hospitality-Interiors Magazine. Yu-Ngok is a recipient of the American Institute of Building Design Designer of the Year, AIA Presidential Citation, AIA National Young Architects Award, BD+C 40 Under 40, ENR 20 Under 40, and the AIACC Young Architect Award. He was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2020.

Saakshi Terway, Assoc. AIA, LEED Green Associate is a licensed architect from New Delhi currently working at Quinn Evans in Washington DC. After working in India for 2 years, she graduated from the University of Cincinnati (UC) with a master’s degree in architecture and a certification in sustainable landscape design. Her interests lie in responsible and sustainable architecture that has a social impact on communities.

Saakshi is a well published professional who also advocates for EDI within the industry. She is the founder of the “Terway Inclusivity Student Scholarship” at UC, a recent recipient of the 2023 DCCEAS Young Architect Award, 2022 AIA|DC Emerging Architect’s Award and the Sho-Ping Chin Grant. Graciela Carrillo, AIA, NCARB. LEED AP BD+C works as a Senior Manager at Nassau BOCES in Garden City, NY. Graciela serves as the AIA New York State representative for the AIA National Strategic Council, and the AIA Long Island Chapter’s Women In Architecture co-founder and Co-Chair. She is one of the co-founders of the Immigrant Architects Coalition. Graciela is a national speaker, featured on various industry podcasts, and a co-author of the book City Shapers: Stories of Immigrant Designers. Graciela was the recipient of the 2019 AIA NYS Young Architect Award, the 2022 AIA Young Architect Award, and the 2023 AIA NYS President Award.

Oyuki Sulu, Assoc. AIA is originally from Merida, Mexico, and she relocated to Pittsburgh in 2012. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, Facultad de Arquitectura. She is a licensed architect in Mexico and is currently in the process of obtaining her architectural license in Pennsylvania. Additionally, she holds a certificate degree in Green and Sustainable Building Design. Oyuki serves as the 2021-2023 PA State Associate Representative (STAR) and is also on the board of directors and serves as the social media coordinator for the Immigrant Architect coalition (IAC). Passionate about sustainability, commercial design, and helping other international architects, she dedicates her time to mentoring and guiding them through the licensure process.
