Despite the ongoing situation and the challenges Lebanon is passing through, AIA ME succeeded in organizing its 7th Middle Eastern big conference event in Lebanon at AUB between November 23 and November 24.

It is the first time AIA ME organizes such big event (Year End Conference) in Lebanon: during previous years, this event was conducted in Bahrain, Sharjah, Cairo, Dubai, etc.

Students, architects, academics and professionals have been able to come together to Beirut to attend our 7th Conference of AIA ME. AIA ME Lecture - Architecture 4.0 and the Question of identity-Amman
Presented by :Dr.Abed Badran

Saturday, 24 August 2019

As technology and architecture have always been intrinsically linked, their operational relationships has been dramatically strengthened by the recent advent of computational design, digital fabrication and the tremendous impact of new systems; the Internet of Things (IoT); robotics, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI). Significantly, this has been affecting on the way we used to question their cultural relations today and historically, and on the way we used to conceive our humanity. The aim of this lecture is to develop the concept of "Architecture 4.0" as a response to the fourth industrial revolution, examining the location of culture and the architecture future practice, passing through the shift in technology, tectonics, identity, contents, talentism, the power of algorithm and resistance.

AIA ME Lecture - Lost in transition-Lebanon Presented by Architect : Wael al-Awar

Monday, 14 October 2019

AIA ME Lebanon in collaboration with Ramez G. Chaghoury Faculty of Architecture, Arts & Design at Notre Dame University - Louaize, cordially invites you to a lecture by Architect Wael Al Awar, founder of Dubai based ibda design. Fundamental to ibda design’s work is the project concept, which acts as a guide for architectural decisions. With no shared first language, Wael and Teramoto, communicate through the process of architecture itself, using diagrams of relations, model studies and research. The principal architects extensively interact to input their individual design sensibilities into a layering of considerations, resulting in an architecture of natural light, time, structure, and landscape. By aligning with these natural phenomena, they seek an architecture that is open to adaptation and appropriation. The spaces that emerge from this approach encourage activities while being resolved as site-specific provocations to their context.

Khobar Planning: Modern Urbanism Revisited - Bahrain Presented by: Atef Alshehri

Sunday, 8 December 2019

With the launch of its city plan in 1947, Khobar was the first experiment of urban planning in Saudi Arabia. The discovery & production of oil in 1938 led to drastic social, economic, and urban changes in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia where ARAMCO ran its operations. During that period, urban conditions were still deeply rooted in their old heritage. Oil enterprise accelerated growth by a few hundred years, by superimposing a 20th century business on a 15th century economy. Khobar’s urban growth was the first manifestation of this change. The talk will be led by Atef Alshehri, an architect, consultant and urbanist based in Saudi Arabia. .
