2026 AIA UK Design Awards - Deadline Extension
We have extended the deadline for the 2026 AIA UK Design Awards to 30 April 2026, 5:00 PM GMT.
This gives you more time to refine your entry - and you don’t need to be an AIA UK member to enter. We encourage submissions that demonstrate strong design thinking, measurable impact, and clear alignment with the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.
All five award categories remain open to architects, designers, and students. AIA membership is not required.
If you have started your submission, now is the time to complete it. If you have not yet entered, this is your opportunity to be recognised on an international stage.
For full details on awards criteria, eligibility, and how to submit, please visit our website: https://www.aiauk.org/design-awards-call-for-entries.
For any questions or support, please contact vicepresident@aiauk.org
We look forward to everyone sharing your work!
Past events
AIA UK’s winter program was busy as ever, ranging from cosy Movie Nights to tours and Technical Lectures, and exploring topics from design history to sustainable roofing!
2026 Annual General Meeting
The chapter kicked off the year with the Annual General Meeting, held on 14 January 2026 at the Herman Miller London showrooms. As well as a formal presentation on the year gone by and a look to the year ahead, it enabled members to gather and enjoy the hospitality of Herman Miller, our longest-standing sponsor.
Winter Movie Nights
We began this year’s film screenings at the BFI on 3 February with NUVOLA - An Open Project for the City, a documentary that explores the transformation of the Lavazza Nuvola Headquarters and its role in the regeneration of Turin’s Aurora district. Conceived by Virginio Briatore with creative direction by Francesca Molteni and directed by Luca Caon, the film offers a thoughtful portrait of how architecture can shape the life of a neighbourhood while reflecting the identity of a company deeply rooted in its city.
This was followed on 10 March by Modernism, Inc: The Eliot Noyes Design Story, providing a compelling look at the life and work of the mid-century architect and designer who helped shape the design programmes of some of America’s most powerful postwar corporations, including, famously, IBM.

Technical Lectures
This year, we were thrilled to bring back the Technical Lecture series. We started off strong with a discussion of Low Carbon Construction with Webb Yates Engineers on 28 January, led by Steve Webb, looking at stone as a low carbon substitute to steel, as well as arguing for hybrid stone and timber construction as an alternative to CLT that would suit the UK climate and environment. Following this in-person session, on 25 March we welcomed Robin Cornel and Douglas Stieve of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates for a webinar on The Colorful World of Sustainable Roofing.
