We are pleased to announce the AIA International Global Workshop Speaker Lineup at AIA26!
Join us on June 10, 8:45 AM–12:30 PM at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego for AIA International presents: The Edge Condition in Global Architecture Practice, a half-day AIA International workshop exploring how architecture operates at the boundaries that increasingly define global practice today. Coffee and networking will begin at 8:00 AM.
No event registration required. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
Convention Center doors open from 7:30 AM and it is strongly suggested to arrive early to allow adequate time for AIA26 registration and badge pickup first.
In architecture, the edge condition is the critical boundary where materials intersect. Our program will explore different perspectives and interpretations of the edge condition in global practice—geographic, cultural, environmental, technological, and organizational—as we bring together voices from leadership, large and signature practice, humanitarian work, climate-responsive design, and regionally grounded case studies.
Our sessions will be hosted and moderated by Jason Holland, AIA Middle East, and speakers include:
(all session titles are subject to final refinement)

Chris Williamson, RIBA National President

Structured as a single integrated learning experience, the workshop invites participants to examine how culture, climate, material innovation, governance, and practice models intersect in global work. Through built projects, applied research, and real-world operational insight, speakers will share strategies that help architects translate theory into action across regions and scales.
Designed for architects engaged in, or preparing for, international practice, the workshop emphasizes critical evaluation, comparative learning, and transferable approaches for working across diverse contexts.
LUs will be allocated for the half-day program and not individual sessions.
Entrance is included in the conference registration price.
We look forward to welcoming attendees for what promises to be a timely and thought-provoking session on Global Architecture at AIA26.
