On 29 August, AIA International hosted the highly successful global webinar Beyond Buildings: Reclaiming Architects' Place in Built Environment Space, presented in collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP). The event was exceptionally well received, drawing over 200 participants from across the globe to discuss how architects can reclaim their pivotal role in shaping sustainable, large-scale urban development.
The session - organised and hosted by Megha Arjun, Int'l Assoc. AIA - featured Padma Shri Awardee C.N. Raghavendran, Managing Director of C.R. Narayana Rao Consultants and an International Associate of the AIA. Drawing on more than five decades of pioneering practice across India, the UAE, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, Raghavendran shared valuable insights from flagship projects such as the Anna Centenary Library, Tidel Park, and the Amazon Campus in Hyderabad. Highlighting his early work in climate-responsive design and green building standards, the presentation inspired attendees to think beyond traditional boundaries and champion environmental responsibility, leadership, and technical innovation within the built environment.
