AIA local area members where invited to participate in an event hosted by Yale Center Beijing.
On July 18th, distinguished experts in urban design and landscape architecture gathered at Yale Center Beijing to discuss how public spaces can shape the future of innovative hubs, drawing on case studies such as the Jingzhang Railway Heritage Park, the Zhongguancun Street revitalization project, and the Daroncheng complex in Zhongguancun West District.
The event featured Yan Wang, a core expert at the Beijing Urban Planning Association; Wanpeng Zu, Director of Tom Leader Studio; and Jane Huang, Founder of Insight Design Studio. Together, they shared their perspectives on developing the Public Realm of the Future AI Innovation Hub.
Mr. Yan Wang pointed out the differences between the traditional model and the current AI era's talent development curve, emphasizing that AI innovation hubs should stimulate and extend the development space for innovative talent through various means. Ms. Jane Huang noted that our development situation remains uneven. On one hand, we need to update our understanding and concepts, actively exploring how to coexist with AI in the post-humanistic era; on the other hand, there are still many aspects where human-oriented design has not been implemented yet. Miss Wanpeng Zu suggested that the programming, design, and experience of physical spaces remain important in the AI era.
The presentations were followed by a round-table discussion and audience Q&A.
