The most sophisticated technology is often the technology we barely notice. In the bathroom, where comfort depends as much on what we see as on what remains hidden, simplicity can be the result of considerable thought. Avant, Roca’s latest innovation, follows precisely this idea: integrating more within the product in order to leave less around it.
With its cistern contained within the toilet itself, Avant removes the need for a conventional external or concealed cistern. There is no visible flush plate and fewer elements competing for attention. What remains is a clean, compact silhouette and a greater sense of openness – particularly valuable as bathrooms become increasingly considered spaces where every centimetre matters.
Roca first introduced the In-Tank concept years ago, integrating the cistern into the WC and challenging the traditional configuration of the toilet. Avant takes that idea one step further. Its patented flushing technology, developed jointly with SIAMP and based on the Venturi effect, allows the system to operate without electricity when the installation provides the necessary water pressure and flow.
The principle is remarkably straightforward. Incoming mains water creates a suction force that draws water from the integrated tank, producing the flush without requiring an electrical connection. For projects where the necessary pressure and flow conditions are not available, Avant-E offers an electrically powered alternative. Two solutions based on the same idea: making integrated technology adaptable to different architectural realities.
Much of Avant’s innovation follows this philosophy of doing more while asking less of the user. Its components remain accessible for installation and maintenance, while the seal-free design reduces potential leakage points. Discreet side controls offer 4.5- and 3-litre flush options, keeping water consumption firmly within the logic of the design.
Hygiene is approached with the same attention to simplicity. Roca Rimless® Vortex technology directs water around the bowl for effective cleaning while reducing splashing and aerosols. Supraglaze® glazing helps prevent dirt and germs from adhering to the ceramic surface, and the Quick Release seat facilitates regular cleaning. Even sound has been considered, with a quieter flush contributing to a more comfortable bathroom environment.
Available in wall-hung and back-to-wall floorstanding versions, Avant is deliberately understated. Its innovation is not expressed through an overtly technological appearance, but through what the design allows to disappear: the cistern, the flush plate, unnecessary complexity and, under the right installation conditions, even the electrical connection.
Recognised with international distinctions including the iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, Best of Best ICONIC Award, Gold Delta and Design Plus by ISH, Avant reflects an approach to innovation centred on everyday experience. Rather than adding more technology to the bathroom, it uses technology to make the bathroom feel simpler.
