With the theme Shaping Place, the AIA International Spring Conference 2026 commenced online from March 26 to 28. On the evening of March 26, Roca Beijing Gallery hosted a special gathering, inviting AIA members and local architectural colleagues to celebrate the conference opening.

Attendees were able to enjoy the Day 1 keynote on a large screen, delivered by Seth R. Sulkin, titled “Place-making in Japan: Fitting the Design to the Market and How Japan Is Different”, followed by an online presentation by Chen Yan, From Story to Space: Narrative Architecture and Place-Shaping in Cultural Tourism Destinations.
