Dear Members of AIA International,
We are seeking nominations for the position of AIA International First Vice President, to serve on the board for a four (4) year term as follows:
As First Vice President - from January 2027 through December 2027
As President - from January 2028 through December 2029
As Immediate Past President - from January 2030 through December 2030.
As a corporate officer of AIA International, the President performs the following duties:
Serves as the chief Officer of the Board
Chairs meetings of the Board of Directors, ensuring the integrity of Board process.
May make decisions on behalf of the Board in a manner consistent with Board policies
May speak for the Board to outside parties concerning Board-stated positions
Serves as AIA International's delegate at the AIA Annual Meeting
Performs all duties incidental to the office of President, those required by law and the Bylaws, and those properly delegated to the office by the Board of Directors.
The First Vice President shall assume all the powers and the duties of the President in the event of absence or disability of the President, and shall perform other duties assigned by the President or by the Board of Directors.
NOMINATIONS
Any current members of AIA International: Architects, Associates, and International Associates (including Emeritus) in good standing, may be nominated. The nomination form is available here: 2027 First Vice President Nomination.
Nominations for First Vice President may be submitted:
by the Board of Directors; or
by any AIA chapter located outside the United States; or
by an AIA International member through a petition containing the signatures of ten eligible members. A copy of the petition may be found at www.aiainternational.org. If not all the nominating members are able to sign one petition form, multiple forms may be used to collect the required ten signatures.
The nomination submission must include:
Candidacy Form and photo (required)
Nominating Petition with signatures (required only for those members nominating themselves)
Video Platform (optional).
All forms shall be submitted in PDF format unless requested otherwise.
All nominations shall be sent to the AIA International Executive Director, Genie Khmelnitski, no later than Friday 5 June 2026 at 5:00pm (Eastern U.S. Time).
ELECTIONS
The First Vice President will be elected by secret ballot, conducted via an online voting platform, during June 2026.
