AIA Taipei - Memos on Placemaking

Event Description

This presentation outlines the 23-year practice journey of Studiobase Architects, led by architect Ming-Wei Huang. At its core lies a design strategy focused on uncovering overlooked yet significant truths within Taiwan's unique history, material culture, and physical environment. These discoveries serve as catalysts for creative inspiration, driving the transformation of spatial typologies.

With years of involvement in public works projects, the firm has garnered numerous domestic and international accolades. Its design philosophy emphasizes the integration and creation of “place” rather than merely executing individual construction projects. It prioritizes connecting with urban history and humanistic contexts while seizing opportunities to infuse contemporary human-centered environmental thinking.
